“I don’t feel like I have to become some kind of star in my home country. I feel more that it’s important for me to travel and make a difference [through music] in the rest of the world.”
I didn’t know much about Swedish heavy metal band Amaranthe and their front-woman Elize Ryd other than they have very large following all over the world and that their music is a truly unique combination of new-school metalcore and old-school Scandinavian pop sounds. Hence, I was intrigued and wanted to meet with Elize to talk about her career, figure out how much she thinks about her individuality as a singer and songwriter, and if she keeps up with digital changes that disrupt the music business such as crowdfunding. It was great to learn that Elize is a smart hands-on artist that has a good feel for the music world today and is prepared for every step she takes. A very impressive artist.
